Planet Hollywood Times Square Review

Image
There is no shortage of restaurants to eat at in the Times Square area. There are restaurants with great themeing and restaurants with great food, and rarely restaurants with both. This falls into the great themeing category. This restaurant, part of the larger Planet Hollywood chain, hosts an impressive array of movie props from everything from Gremlins to Forest Gump to Waterworld. Be aware if you choose to eat here, you are paying to see these props and costumes, and it can be a lot of fun to walk around and see them. The restaurant was relatively empty on my visit (which was for lunch on a nonholiday weekday) so I could get a great look at all the movie memorabilia adorning the restaurant. The food is typical American comfort food, and is relatively reasonable in price by the standards of the touristy areas of New York. None of the items on the menu are awful, but they are also nothing to write home about. You are going for the gimmick of a P...

Meinnger Hotel Berlin Flughafen Review

Meinnger Hotel Berlin Flughafen

The Meinnger Hotel Berlin Flughafen is a cheap airport hotel on the outskirts of Berlin near the Schönefeld Airport. You certainly can not miss it with its striking colors.

This hotel is designed primarily as an airport hotel, but it could also be a budget option for a larger trip to Berlin. It is only about a five-minute walk from a major public transit station that will take you right into the center of Berlin.

Walk from Meinnger Hotel Berlin Flughafen to Public Transit Station

Here is an overview of the walk between the hotel and the station that will take you into Berlin near many of the famous sights. As you can see it is not too far and only requires crossing one major road and a parking lot. Just be aware you are walking near people's apartments so you will want to be quiet on your walk so you don't disturb anyone.

As for the rooms, be aware although this is a hotel there are some hostel-style rooms where you will be in a room with other people you do not know. This is something to be aware of while booking so you do not accidentally book the wrong type of room.

The rooms are fairly large for the price and feature a variety of different arrangements of beds to fit your traveling party.

The hotel has typical amenities like a breakfast buffet and an outside lounge on the top floor.

The area just outside the hotel is fine, and there is an Aldi's connected to the hotel where you can pick up some food and snacks, but be aware the hours are somewhat strange so it may not be an option for you depending on your activities that day.

This hotel is perfect for an overnight before flying somewhere, or for people looking to visit Berlin but not pay for a more expensive hotel in the city itself.
